Classic Car Boot Sale

Classic Car Boot Sale

Another Hemingway Design production, the Classic Car Boot Sale takes on Kings Cross’ Granary Square, for a car boot sale like no other! Forget what you think you know about car boot sales: ruinously early starts, dodgy bacon butties, polystyrene cups of tea, rain-swept fields and banged-up Fiestas…Instead, picture classic design, carefully chosen traders flogging everything from vintage fashion, vinyl, homewares and collectibles to design classics, craft beer and tasty street food treats from some very handsome pre-1989 vehicles.

We were tasked with providing site wide audio for the event, which took some careful planning – the window for rigging the event is very small, and signal distribution is over a fairly large site – A converted Routemaster bus provides bar facilities downstairs, with our DJ booth on the open top! Signal then runs to a control area adjacent to the bus, where we can mix levels to the rest of the site, and provide broadcast splits to various radio stations and live streamers covering the event.

We used a mixture of copper and wireless to cover the site, a Martin Audio CDD Live PA for the bus bar, and another on the opposite end of the site, Martin Audio Blackline X10 speakers with Martin Audio DD6 fill speakers in the areas in between, with distributed amplifier racks. On the far opposite side of the site, a wireless link fed another remote amplifier rack and a brace of Martin Audio BlacklineX8’s.

A swift but safe de-rig at the end of the event is also required, as the roads are opened back up to the general public.
